The giant Merlion is 8.6 meters tall and weighs 70 tonnes. It is located in Merlion park before the waterfront. The significance of the merlion is to tell the story of Singapore. The fishtail of the merlion represents the humble beginnings of Singapore as a fishing village. The face of the lion represents the original name of Singapore – “singa-pura” which means lion city. 

Singapore Botanical Gardens

If you want to experience something in nature, then Singapore Botanical Garden is a must-visit. It is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can find the world’s largest orchid display with around 60000 plants and orchids. It is also one of the places that hold significance in Singapore’s agricultural development. This is the first and only tropical botanical garden on the UNESCO world heritage list. Inside the Singapore Botanical Garden is the Jacob Ballas Children’s garden which is a specialized garden for the kids. 

Visit Little India

If you are interested in exploring a different culture in a different country, Little India is the best place for you. When you are here, it is as if you have visited India and not Singapore!
